It is approximately 45 miles east of Huntsville, Alabama and approximately 60 miles west of Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Scottsboro city limit incorporates a 54 square mile area, with a police jurisdiction of 200 square miles. The population consists of approximately 16,500 people.
