Fire Prevention

Fire prevention is an integral part of the Scottsboro Fire Department. We provide fire prevention classes such as the use of fire extinguishers, escape plans, and fire safety.

The City of Scottsboro abides by the 2000 Edition of NFPA 101 Life Safety Code and the 2003 Edition of the ICC Building and Fire Codes.

Our fire fighters and vehicles are available to be scheduled to attend the local schools for fire prevention talks. Tours are also available of our fire stations. Please see the contact link for the phone number to call and set up a tour.

The City of Scottsboro is served by our current Fire Marshal Chuck Bryant. Chuck has been with the department since 1993. He was promoted in May 2006 to his current position as fire marshal. The fire marshal duties include plans review for new construction, fire inspections of existing buildings, fire investigations, and conducting fire prevention classes.

The City of Scottsboro Fire Department recently received the Life Safety Achievement Award from the Residential Fire Safety Institute and the Alabama State Fire Marshals Office for 2001 and 2002. The award recognizes fire departments of its work to keep its community free of fire deaths. Scottsboro has not reported a fire related death since 2003.
