Scottsboro Fire and Rescue is a thirty-nine-member emergency response department.  The department consists of thirty-five full time fire fighters, three volunteer fire fighters, and one civilian.

We serve a population of approximately 14,000 residents, and cover approximately 58 square miles. Three fire stations, five engines, one eighty-five foot aerial truck, two brush trucks, and one service truck serve Scottsboro. Our personnel provide fire suppression, and other emergency related services, to Scottsboro and other mutual aid communities.

Our fire fighters are fully trained to the minimum standards set forth by the Alabama State Fire College. The department has twelve EMT Basics, two EMT Intermediates, three EMT Paramedics, eighteen apparatus operators, and twenty-one instructors. Other training that our fire fighters have received includes Hazardous Materials, wild land fire fighting, high angle rescue, confined space rescue, vehicle extrication and fire investigation.

Our entire first due engines are equipped with the latest in extrication equipment. This includes Jaws of Life, air bags, and porta-powers.  Scottsboro Fire Department was one of the first departments in Alabama to have an engine equipped with a compressed air foam system (CAFS). Currently, we have two engines equipped with CAFS.

Our goal is to arrive as quickly and safely as possible, and to give our citizens the very best that we have!
